# How to bulk edit Shopify prices by collection

Update Shopify collection prices with the native bulk editor or a scheduled app. Compare fixed and percentage changes, check variants, and plan your allowance.

A supplier raises prices on one collection. Or you want to reduce the prices of last season’s stock. The adjustment is simple enough, but opening every product and editing each variant takes time.

[RP: Bulk Price Editor](/bulk-price-editor/) lets you target a collection, apply a fixed or percentage adjustment, and run the job immediately or on a schedule. Shopify’s own bulk editor is also useful when you have a smaller set of prices to change now.

Start by deciding which prices should change. The collection name alone doesn’t tell you whether every product and variant belongs in the update.

## Step 1: Check the collection and its variants

Review the products in your chosen collection before editing. A seasonal collection might include accessories that should keep their current prices, or a product with one variant priced differently from the others.

Write down the scope of the update:

- Which collection are you changing?
- Does the adjustment apply to every product in it?
- Should every size, color, or other variant receive the same adjustment?
- Are any products already part of another planned price update?

For example, a collection of 20 shirts with five size variants each has 100 variant prices to check. A product count of 20 doesn’t describe all the prices involved.

Keep a record of the original prices for the selected variants. You’ll need those values to check the result and decide what should happen after a temporary promotion.

## Step 2: Choose a percentage or fixed-amount change

A percentage adjustment scales with the existing price. A fixed-amount adjustment adds or subtracts the same amount from each selected price.

Here is a worked example in USD.

| Original price | Adjustment     | Calculation | New price |
| -------------- | -------------- | ----------- | --------- |
| $40            | Reduce by 10%  | $40 × 0.90  | $36       |
| $40            | Increase by $4 | $40 + $4    | $44       |
| $80            | Reduce by 10%  | $80 × 0.90  | $72       |
| $80            | Increase by $4 | $80 + $4    | $84       |

If your collection includes both $40 and $80 products, a $4 increase affects them differently. It raises the first price by 10% and the second by 5%.

Check a low-priced item and a high-priced item before applying the same rule across the collection. Also check a variant with an unusual price, such as a larger size that costs more.

## Step 3: Use Shopify’s bulk editor for a manual update

Shopify’s native bulk editor lets you edit product and variant details in a table. For a manageable number of prices that you want to change now, it may cover the job without another app.

In Shopify admin, open Products and apply the Collection filter to find the products you want. This selects products belonging to a collection; you are editing their prices, rather than the collection’s own title or other details. 1. Select the relevant product checkboxes and choose Bulk edit.
2. Open Columns and add Price if it isn’t already visible.
3. Edit the prices in the table, checking variant rows where prices differ.
4. Save your changes. If the editor reports errors, correct them and save again.

Use your calculations from the previous step as the values you intend to enter. Copying one price across several rows only makes sense when those variants should all end up at that same price.

After saving, reopen a few products and check their variant prices. Include a product you meant to change and one you meant to leave alone.

## Step 4: Use a scheduled app for repeated pricing work

When your task is “reduce this collection by 10% on Friday,” selecting a group and applying an adjustment can be easier than preparing each new price by hand.

RP: Bulk Price Editor supports selection by collection, tag, vendor, product type, manual selection, or variant. You can choose a percentage or fixed-amount change, set start and end times, and review previous jobs in its history.

For your first collection update:

1. Choose the collection and check the products or variants you intend to include.
2. Set the adjustment using a calculation you’ve already checked.
3. Decide whether to run it now or schedule it. Confirm the date and time, including which time zone the schedule uses, before saving.
4. Review the job history after it runs, then check the resulting prices in Shopify.

This is a planning workflow. The exact controls available for a job matter, especially when setting an end time or planning to reverse a temporary change.

Rollback is available when supported. Check the job’s controls before relying on reversal, and keep the original prices until you’ve verified the finished update.

## Step 5: Count price changes before choosing a plan

The app’s monthly allowance counts price changes. It does not count products or jobs as interchangeable units.

One job can affect many variant prices. Repeated updates can also change the same price more than once, so don’t choose an allowance based only on the number of products in your collection.

| Pro       | $9.99/month  | 10,000 price changes, unlimited tasks |
| Unlimited | $29.99/month | Unlimited price changes and tasks     |

Check your expected usage for the whole month, including other collections you plan to update. If you need to confirm how a particular operation counts toward usage, check the app before running it. ## Plan one collection update first

Choose one collection, record its original prices, and calculate the expected result for a few variants. That gives you a useful check whether you use Shopify’s bulk editor or an app.
